James W. Cofer
James W. Cofer, Jr., “Jim,” earned a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech in 1969, and enjoyed a 42-year career in radar, satellite communications, and foreign missile threat analysis. He spent 28 years on the Georgia Tech research faculty and worked for Harris Corp. and Scientific Atlanta. He retired in 2005 as Associate Director of the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) for this now one-billion-dollar enterprise and worked there as a retiree for another 10 years. His research experience prepared him to write this fictional novel which is based on current real-world political, economic, and military conditions.
He began his career as an RF measurement technician in NASA’s Apollo Program in 1965. During the Vietnam War, he analyzed Russian surface-to-air missile systems at GTRI and contributed to the development of electronic countermeasures to protect American pilots. With Harris Corp. in Melbourne, Florida, he performed antenna design and managed classified spaceborne communications programs. He directed Scientific Atlanta’s SATCOM Antenna Division for five years. He has travelled abroad extensively including Russia and China. In 1999 and 2001, China sponsored his lecture tour to their universities and defense companies, where he developed a keen interest in Chinese culture and history.
Born in Norfolk, Virginia, he lived most of his life in Georgia, and now resides with his wife Joanne, in Birmingham, Alabama. They have a blended family of five children, seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
He holds one patent for a mortar-locating radar antenna and has authored over 50 technical reports and articles, numerous local history articles, and two books on family and local history. His books have received three awards. This fictional novel presents a story that he hopes never happens.

2036: The Year China Invades America — The dawn of September 11, 2036, crashed on America’s shores like a western Pacific tsunami as two million troops of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army stormed ashore. U.S. Navy ports, airfields, and ground troop bases were assaulted simultaneously as 400 Y-20 Xian Heavy Military Transport aircraft landed and unloaded thousands of combatants and vehicles. China’s newly-launched Zedong-400 nuclear-powered aircraft carriers parked just outside nine major U.S. naval stations and launched their hundreds of fighter and bomber planes. The U.S. surveillance satellites had been knocked out earlier, so the enemy’s approach was undetected. Federal officials…

Charley Boswell
Charley Boswell lost his eyesight helping a wounded soldier escape from a burning tank in a World War II battle. Home from the war, suffering the pain of futile operations, his last hopes destroyed, he faced up to the responsibility of supporting his wife and small daughter. In younger days, he’d played football for Alabama, those great Crimson Tide teams; his home town remembered him and he found himself representing a sporting goods store—then selling insurance—none of it satisfied him. He took up golf, learned that he wasn’t ‘blind’, but merely ‘saw’ in a different way. He became National Blind Champion in golf 15 times. Now I See is his story, an inspirational narrative whose appeal is in its poignant authenticity…we’re out there swinging with Charley.

Order Now: Where the Humor Meets the Road
Where the Humor Meets the Road had its origins some 30,000 feet above the ground, and in airports across the country in the mid-1970’s. A series of less than enjoyable experiences, while traveling by air, resulted in the abandonment of the airways. Road trips across the highways, byways, and backroads of the country seemed the logical alternative to soaring through the clouds. Traveling by water was just too complicated a way to reach the nooks and crannies of a country that span over two thousand miles from coast to the coast and more than a thousand miles from Green Bay…

“For me, writing is a way to bring all I experience in this life closer to true understanding. I write the things I have learned in this life OR the wisdom my spirit intercepts. Sometimes it is logical, sometimes it is painful, and other times it just feels good. But my writing is truth, and truth is healing!”

I met these people and learned these stories while homeless and/or working as a taxi driver, an occupation like that of bartender, that assumes the roll of psychiatrist and confidant for his/her patrons. Individually poems could be categorized as comedic, adventurous, religious, etc. so it was not until I read them all together that I realized I was writing a book of love poetry. I’m a retired businessman, Ancient of Age. Was married to my beautiful, full of love, a forgiving wife, for over 60 years. she passed a few years ago. Know she is very happy with our God so all is good.
I’m living and working on my pine tree farm. Still able to work on my tractor and run a chainsaw now and then. Even have a pickup truck!! Do raise a few herbs and vegetables but pine trees are main crop. Planted over 8,000 Loblolly’s in the last 10 years. Pretty Cool!!…….For you city folk, Loblolly’s are a species of pine tree used for pulp wood in paper mills. Impressed?
Started writing my thoughts about spiritual matters and questions about 50 years ago when I found a new, much better, road for my life. Had lots of questions and found that writing helped me think deeper. Up to a year ago there were no thoughts about publishing them but found that other people had the same questions I was dealing with. Maybe my writings could help some other people so I started putting everything together.
“Dogs” was my first book. Lots of people wonder about dogs going to heaven, check this out and see.
My next book was “Musings”. It is not really a novel but a collection of writings on spiritual matters. No need to start on page one. Pick a topic that has bothered you and then move on to another. That’s what I did while writing these letters.
More stuff to come, if you like these first two. Do let me know what you think, good or bad.
Your friend in Christ, Doug Ross

Spiritual Musings
The papers in my book, “SPIRITUAL MUSINGS” had an original goal, an original purpose. They were not meant for publication. They were not written for anyone or any purpose but to help me, personally, to understand my God and what He was trying to tell me. Writing helps me to look closer, search deeper into the words of Christ, His teachings. I want to actually feel their meaning.
“Spiritual Musings” is the result. Hopefully this book will help others reach their level of understanding.
