My Baby Boomer Chinatown

$39.95

Chinatown was self-sufficient, even though downtown Fresno was across the railroad tracks. As a Baby Boomer, she experienced the relative calm of the 1950s. The Korean War, World War II, the Civil Rights Act, the Vietnam War and many other events changed the Chinatown community to the point that it no longer exists in its prior location. Wong captures its former era and pays tribute to a once-cohesive community within her hometown. See sample pages at www.irenewong.com.

Written by Irene Wong

Irene Wong has worn many hats in her seven decades. Most recently she is the author of My Baby Boomer Chinatown, which fondly describes the backdrop to her youth in Fresno, a city in the San Joaquin Valley of California.

Her hobby of taking photographs and collecting historical books and records ultimately resulted in My Baby Boomer Chinatown. The volume includes book reviews documenting her lifelong quest to understand the history of her immigrant parents’ generation and what drove them to seek freedom and opportunity in the United States.
