Victoria Snider
Victoria Snider is a longtime nurse who began to experiment with painting and poetry in 2017. Growing up with a painter/poet father, a talented seamstress mother and a younger sister who excelled as a miniaturist and at technical drawing was a bit intimidating. Thus, a wonderful and ongoing career as a nurse ensued.
Sensing a growing need for a creative outlet, she began her mostly self-taught personal quest to discover and nurture her own artistic spark late in life. It has brought much fulfillment.
As author and illustrator of her first self published book, Koi Meets World, she has decided to share part of this journey with you.Books by the Author

Koi Meets World
This book is dedicated to all those who could, would, and should find their voices. Included within this book is the 2017 experimental painting that became the catalyst for this book. The lines on the pages of poetry are there for you to write or draw your own thoughts and ideas. The paintings in this book are a form of acrylic pour painting. A relatively thin background of black paint was first applied to a square canvas. Next, small puddles of the three contrasting colors are layered along the perimeter of the canvas. William Howell
William “Mike” Howell was born in Geneva, Alabama. He attended the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa where he received his B.S., M.S., and PhD in education and biology. While there, he studied vertebrate zoology with a major emphasis on ichthyology. Subsequently, he taught biology for 37 years at Samford University and 2 years at Cornell University.

This is the story of an endangered fish, the Watercress Darter, Etheostoma nuchale Howell and Caldwell 1965. It is a beautiful, multicolored, two-inch (=5.08 cm) fish that lives only in five limestone springs of Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama, and its suburbs. I have had a fifty-nine-year relationship with this fish. Thus, I find it necessary to write this account in the first person.
