“Where There’s Smoke, There’s Fire” is Elizabeth Shannon’s first children’s book, which was inspired by her two cats, Smoke and Fire. After growing up in Birmingham, Alabama, Elizabeth lived for 30 years in Los Angeles, CA where she was a video editor. Elizabeth returned to Alabama in 2013, when Smoke and Fire showed up at her front door and became a part of her family.
She now lives in Birmingham with her cat Fire, her beloved dog Brinkley, and the sweetest new addition to the family, three month old puppy Lida Rose. Her patient husband and coparent, Jack, loves all the pets as much as Elizabeth.

Brantley thought your book was so good!! So he took it to school with him today and his teacher is going to share it with the class and she is also recommending it to some other teachers.
“Smoke and Fire are like me and you mommy cause even tho we don’t always get along we still always have each others backs!!” – Brantley, Age 9

What a sweet and important story to share with young children…that even if we aren’t exactly alike, we can still be friends. And that life is better with friends. The illustrations are beautiful. I love this book.
