Virginia Hamby

Virginia discovered watercolor after a career in Social Work.  She moved to Eufaula, Alabama with her husband Daniell in 2016.

Influences in her painting life include sister, Laura Cutchen at Cotton and Kudzu, an art and flower shop in Eufaula, who provides “a place where creativity happens.”  Rhonda Hancock, watercolorist, became mentor and friend.

Reflecting on her work Virginia says:

Art has opened my eyes to the beauty of the simplest things around me; painting communicates my fascination. I share it with family, especially our daughters, their spouses, and our granddaughter, who live in New York, and our friends. Now I offer it in my first book.

Kelly Talley, Virginia’s niece and graphic designer, Peter Pauley friend and photographer, The Eufaula Art Scene, Women Who Watercolor, and the Train Ladies (friends who commuted into Philadelphia with Virginia for 20+ years) provide energy and encouragement for Virginia’s work.
