Born the ninth child of ten children, Mildred’s personal journeys of joys and sorrows, victories and setbacks, have shaped her life. Those life experiences are the inspiration for each of the 31 Power Thoughts. And it is her faith in God that is the foundation for her belief in the power of renewing one’s mind in order to transform one’s life.
The recipient of the Woman of Distinction Award presented by the Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama, Mildred is a recognized leader in higher education, community service, and municipal government. She has taught in higher education for over twenty years, served in municipal government for over ten years, and elected City Councilwoman for two terms in Pelham, Alabama. The Alabama Community College System Award for Excellence Chancellor’s Award is among her honors. She holds the National Award for Excellence in Governance and Public Affairs and the Honorary Doctor of Philosophy of Humane Letters. Mildred is committed to empowering others through faith, motivation, education, and community civic engagement.
